Who We Are

Built by People Who've Worked the Floor

Sable Compass grew out of years spent inside hospitality operations across Malaysia — not as observers, but as people who managed shifts, trained teams, and lived through the friction that comes when a venue grows faster than its systems can keep up.

We started the practice because we kept meeting café owners and restaurant managers who were putting in long hours but still felt like something was slightly off. The service wasn't flowing. The kitchen hand-offs were creating delays. The second outlet didn't feel like the first one anymore. Good intentions, but no clear framework.

The name Sable Compass reflects what we try to do: bring steady direction when things feel uncertain. We're not consultants who hand over a thick report and disappear. We work alongside owners and their teams at whatever pace makes sense — starting small if that's right, scaling if the situation calls for it.

Our Mission

Steadier Venues, Clearer Operations

Our work is about helping F&B businesses in Malaysia build operations that hold up through a busy Saturday lunch or the opening of a second location. We care about the daily experience — for guests and for the team running the floor.

Practical over theoretical

Every recommendation we make has to be workable in a real Malaysian venue with a real team.

Honest conversations

We'll tell you what we see, even if it's not what you were expecting to hear.

Respect for your team

Your staff are the ones making the venue work. We engage them respectfully and keep changes manageable.

How We Work

Our Standards

The way we conduct every engagement — from first contact to final deliverable.

On-Site Observation

We insist on seeing venues in operation before we advise. Notes taken during a real shift carry more weight than any questionnaire.

Client Confidentiality

Everything discussed in our engagements stays between us and the client. We do not share operational or commercial details with third parties.

Written Deliverables

Every engagement concludes with a clear, written document — not just a verbal conversation. Clients receive something they can use and share with their team.

No Overscoping

We recommend the level of engagement that matches what the business actually needs. We won't push for a larger programme when a lighter review is the right answer.

Timely Communication

Client enquiries are acknowledged within one working day. Reports are delivered within the agreed timeframe, with a heads-up if anything shifts.

F&B Sector Focus

Our advisory work stays in the hospitality and F&B space. This focus means our frameworks and language are relevant to the challenges venue operators actually face.

About Our Work

F&B Operations Advisory in Malaysia

Sable Compass is an operations advisory practice based in George Town, Penang, working with independent cafés, restaurants, and multi-outlet food and beverage groups across Malaysia. Our engagements are designed to help venue operators improve how their businesses run day to day — covering service flow, kitchen organisation, menu structure, and the kind of cross-outlet consistency that a growing group needs to maintain quality.

The hospitality sector in Malaysia moves quickly, and the operational pressures on a venue owner or manager are real — staffing changes, menu revisions, shifting customer habits, and the ongoing work of keeping a kitchen and front-of-house team aligned. We work alongside businesses at each of these stages, offering structured advisory services that are scoped to the size and situation of the venue.

Our Service Flow Review is suited to venues wanting an external perspective on how a shift runs. The Menu & Operations Tune-Up is a working engagement for venues that want a more thorough look at how menu design and daily prep connect. The Multi-Outlet Operations Programme supports operators with two or more locations who want shared standards and clearer reporting across their group.

All of our work is grounded in direct experience of Malaysian hospitality operations — we understand the practical constraints that come with local supplier relationships, typical staffing structures, and the variety of venue formats operating in the market.
